THE AUTHOR
Dr. Carl Alasko has over twenty years of experience as a practicing psychotherapist specializing in couples and families.
As part of his Ph.D. program in clinical psychology, he trained for a year at the Istituto di Terapia Familiare in Rome, Italy, under the direction of Maurizio Andolfi.
He lived in Rome for ten years during the 1970’s. During those years he married and had two daughters, both of whom continue to live in Rome. He returns frequently to Italy and knows intimately both the Italian language and culture.
Dr. Alasko has trained extensively with Pia Mellody, author of "Facing Codependence." For many years he conducted workshops focusing on recovery from childhood abuse using Pia Mellody's model.
For the past twelve years Alasko has written a weekly advice column, "On Relationships," for the Monterey County Herald. The column deals with all relationship issues – from dating, having a baby to coping with an aging parent.
He maintains a private practice in the Monterey area, where he lives with his wife and son.
